St. Elizabeth Regional Health opens St. Elizabeth East, closes Home Hospital

St. Elizabeth Regional Health opened St. Elizabeth East, its new 410,000 square foot hospital, at 7 a.m. this morning. The new state-of-the-art facility replaces Home Hospital.

As part of the transition from Home Hospital to St. Elizabeth East, 56 patients were successfully transferred to St. Elizabeth Central and St. Elizabeth East. The patient move started at 8:55 a.m. this morning. Though originally scheduled to take two days to complete, all patient moves were completed by 3:50 p.m. today. The successful move was attributed to outstanding planning and implementation by St. Elizabeth Regional Health physicians and staff.

Home Hospital officially closed, with the exception of the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, once the last patient was moved. The Inpatient Psychiatric Unit will remain open at Home Hospital until the unit is moved to St. Elizabeth Central this summer.
